You don’t have a Spring Cleaning Plan
Spring is here, and it is time to give the inside an outside of your home a deep clean. Start with a master task list of the basics. Then, walk through your home and note trouble spots in each room and outside the home that aren’t already on the master list. You can then edit your master checklist for next year. Having an individual list for each room is helpful. One person can tackle the entire room, or if a person is responsible for a particular task, they can check it off for that room once completed. Here is a checklist you can start with.
You Haven’t Enlisted Help
Cleaning is more fun as a group activity. Assign age appropriate chores to children, and create that honey-do list. There is no reason you have to do it all on your own. Make it more fun by setting up a spring cleaning soundtrack of favorite songs. You could also create a game to see who finishes their list first. Plan a reward when spring cleaning is finished that will keep everyone motivated and going.
You Haven’t Allotted Enough Time
Spring Cleaning is a big endeavor. Make sure you dedicate enough time to the tasks on your list. You may have to spread it out over a few weekends. Time yourself this year, so you know how much time to block out next year.
You Don’t Have the Right Supplies
You want to make sure you have all of your supplies handy as well. You can’t refresh your home without some essential tools and cleaning supplies. Here is a list of some necessary supplies and cleaners you will need.
You are Distracted
There is nothing worse than getting into a cleaning groove and then the phone rings. It’s hard not to answer. Turn off all phones and limit distractions. Plan to have time to catch up on things you may have missed at the end of the day.
You are not Doing Your Part for the Environment
Using microfiber cloths instead of paper towels is better for the environment and will give you long lasting effects. You can make environmentally friendly cleaners with vinegar, water, baking soda, and dish soap. Here are some of my favorite recipes.
