A Mother’s Day She Will Never Forget

Does this sound familiar?

Toys everywhere
The calls of mom, mom, mom are driving you crazy
The to-do list never seems to end
Calendars aren’t in sync
Technology seems like a burden

These are all common complaints. There are systems you can put in place to stop these commonly heard cries:

“Mom, what’s for dinner?”
“Honey, what’s going on this weekend?”
“Mom, can I have a friend over?”

Without a schedule, in place, you may flounder to answer these questions. When you don’t have an answer it not only causes stress for you but for those asking the questions. With a simple calendar, you can send family members to check there instead of yelling, mom, mom, mom.

What types of items should go on your calendar?

  • Birthdays
  • Days off from School
  • Dinner Plans
  • Parties
  • Meetings
  • Anything that you and your spouse will be out of the house for
  • Travel Plans

Setting up a calendar can be fun when you get the entire family involved. Ask everyone what events they have coming up. If using a paper calendar you can use stickers to make it more fun and engaging. If using a digital calendar give everyone access to add events so your job isn’t as laborious.

Getting the house in order can be a task if everyone isn’t involved. Creating a chore chart for the entire family stops them from asking what do I do next. Set a time once a week where chores are completed and everyone has their checklist. You can get your tasks done without the distractions of others.

But what about that to do list?

The to-dos never seem to end. I’m going to give you a hint. You probably only need to deal with 20% of your list. Delegate what you can and remove what no longer aligns with your priorities.

Utilizing technology to find the space in the day to do what you want to do can help you relax and rejuvenate. I love Google Goals for this task. It helps you create goals to fit around your busy schedule.
